The 7 Most Common Beginner Photography Mistakes You Should Avoid

Whenever you try your hand at anything new, you are bound to make a few mistakes along the way!  And learning photography is definitely no exception.

Although making mistakes can actually be a good thing, as they are part and parcel of the process for learning photography, that doesn’t mean that we need to keep making them, or indeed, make them in the first place!

I certainly made my fair share of mistakes when learning photography,  but after teaching thousands of others over the last 7 years,  I’ve definitely noticed that most beginner photographers keep making the same mistakes.

So in the spirit of trying to save you a ridiculous amount of time and energy, today I want to share with you the 7 most common mistakes beginner photographers make, so you can learn what to avoid, and most importantly, what to do instead so that you can master your camera, and get photos you love, much quicker, and with less frustration.

Tune in to learn:

  • The lighting mistake that most new photographers make, and what to do instead when you are just starting out.

  • The reason you’re photos have a weird colour cast, and the two ways you can adjust it for accurate tones.

  • Why using the wrong mode can leave you stuck and unable to get the images you see in your head.

  • The simple composition rule that makes your images look more dynamic.

  • Why your photos might be a little soft and blurry, because of the settings your camera frequently picks for you when in AUTO or Aperture Priority Mode.

  • Why you panic when you’re taking a shot, and the best antidote for this.
