So you’ve switched to shooting in manual mode….but now you keep missing the moment?

That's because there's so much more to shooting in manual mode than simply choosing the right settings and plugging them in!

Without truly understanding how to shoot in manual mode, you’ll often end up:

😫 Being wildly off with your exposure, and taking ages to get it right.

😫 Taking too long to adjust your settings, so by the time you’re ready, the moment’s passed.

😫 Panicking when the light changes because you can’t adapt your settings quickly enough.

😫 Feeling like manual mode just isn’t for you, and falling back into one of the AUTO modes instead.

😫 Wondering why everyone insists manual mode is a game changer!

Which is why SO many people give up on manual mode before they’ve even got started!

A person holding a Sony camera with a large zoom lens, on a desk next to a laptop, with a white pot of green plants and a camera lens in the background.

But the good new is, there are things you can do to speed everything up, and have manual mode feel more natural and less stressful.

And that's exactly what we teach you inside Manual Mode Magic!

A person with long hair in a bun playing in the ocean at sunset, with the sun near the horizon and a cloudy sky in the background.
An elderly woman with glasses and curly hair sitting at a dining table, looking inside a handbag, with a glass of water and plates of food on the table. There is a door with glass panels and curtains in the background.

So why is using manual mode so freakin’ important?

Choosing the camera settings yourself and shooting in Aperture or Shutter Priority Mode is a fantastic start - but we don't want to stop there!

Shooting in full manual mode means you can:

  • You'll get images that look that way you envisaged, because you can control every single aspect of your image, instead of leaving some settings up to the camera

  • Get more consistent exposures because the camera isn’t constantly metering and changing settings on you!

  • You can set the creatively correct exposure for the scene, which is not necessarily what the camera will choose!

  • Help you nail your exposure in challenging light situations, such as backlight, sunlight and low light.

  • Get more creative images because it's easier to get them in Manual Mode than it is Aperture or Shutter Priority Mode!

Here’s a little snippet from Manual Mode Magic (the intro lesson!) where we talk about exactly why shooting in manual mode is so important, and the difference you’ll see in your photos!

Manual Mode Magic gives you a toolkit of techniques for using manual mode like a pro, including:

👉 The single most reliable starting point for nailing exposure every time — even in tricky, mixed, or rapidly changing light.

👉 The CLICKS method for making fast, confident setting changes on the fly — so when your subject speeds up or a cloud rolls in, you can react quickly instead of missing the moment.

👉 How to stop relying on your inaccurate LCD screen to judge exposure, and instead use in-camera tools that tell you instantly whether your exposure is on track (so you catch and fix mistakes there and then - not hours later when you're back at your screen and the moment has passed!)

👉 A reliable, repeatable system for achieving consistent results in exposure regardless of subject or location, so you can stop with the time consuming trial and error approach.

👉 How to use what is around you to set your exposure, for times it’s more practical to do so!

👉 Audrey’s Arsenal of manual mode tips that will make your life easier, help you dial in your settings faster, and make adjustments quickly. These extra insights and practical tips from Audrey are worth their weight in gold 😉

Yep, really! When I first started using manual mode, it felt slow, clunky, and quite frankly, a bit intimidating.

So I did what a lot of photographers do — I parked myself firmly in AV mode, told myself I didn’t really need to shoot in manual mode and that aperture priority mode was just fine.

Except it wasn't fine.

Because the images I was getting didn't match the images I could see in my head.

And I knew the only way to close that gap was to make the switch to full manual.

So I did. And I never looked back!

Fast forward to today — I have over 17 years of photography experience and I've taught manual mode to more than 3,000 students through Live Snap Love.

The methods I share aren't theory — they're the exact same techniques I use every single time I pick up my camera!

If I could go from frustrated and stuck on AV mode to genuinely loving manual — and help thousands of others do the same — I know I can help you too.

That's exactly why I created Manual Mode Magic!
